Hey all,

As you all know, I'm planning a Warhammer fantasy campaign, which will start somewhere in August, barring unforeseen circumstances.

What I'd like to know is:

- Who's playing?
- What will you be playing?
- Would you like to use other sourcebooks for your character creation than the basic rulebook? If so, which ones and why?

What you need to know for now is:

- you're allowed to freely pick your race and career (basic careers only, of course)
- you're allowed to switch stats around after rolling them
- Shallya's mercy may still be used should you want it
- RESTRICTED RACES: Elf. Why? Because if you're allowed to freely pick race, there's no reason NOT to play one. Also, they don't really fit the campaign.
- RESTRICTED CLASSES: all elf only careers, norse berserker, dwarf slayer, bailiff, entertainer (believe me, you don't want to), jailer, kislevite kossar, noble (discouraged strongly), toll keeper, valet, watchman, squire, shieldbreaker
- ENCOURAGED CLASSES: mercenary, tomb robber, grave robber, rat catcher, thief, miner, student, smuggler, ... and everything you can give a twist to that explains your character taking on a very, very dirty job.

Expect to get your hands very dirty. Expect to fight for your life. Expect to lose your sanity. Expect to bite off more than you can chew.

But most of all, expect to -if you play it right- get stinking, stinking rich.

Bianka Dahmbach from the poor village of Dorna in Ostermark. Red hair, blue eyes, short, chubby and with a broken nose from some incident or other, she never states the same reason twice when asked about it. After she made a goat explode when she was eleven years old, she was quickly picked up and sent to the Colleges. Her somewhat dreamy nature led her to be given over to the Celestial College.

She is now an Apprentice Wizard, apprenticed to the kindly old Herwin Gaertner of the Celestial Order who after twenty-two years of training her has sent her out into the world, at the end of her apprenticeship training, to "find your true path". She will return having decided on which College to apply to and with the required fee, or not at all.

With only a big stick, her wits and her magic to guide her, it will probably be the latter.

EDIT:

Extra rulebooks: Realms of Sorcery, which is an indepth look at the Setting of the Colleges of Magic and how they work with their apprentices and the outside world. Mostly for the background and depth they add to the character, there are some new spells aswell but I haven't read to that bit yet. Relevant sections would be the Celestial College, apprenticeships and legality of magic (for example, I have to have a written letter from my Master to say that I'm allowed to be wandering about so I can show it to the Witch Hunters, and I can't use any magic unless it's for "good reason".) Also whichever Lore Bianka finally picks.

EDIT EDIT:

Due to apprentice recruitment practices for the following colleges, these Lores are not ones she can pick from: Celestial, Amber, Metal or Death.

So her choices will be between Life, Shadow, Bright and Light. She is leaning towards Life, but she is definitely not sure about it.

From the Realms of Sorcery book, I would like to incorporate the Expanded Miscast Tables, the Expanded Spell Lists for the Lores and Extra Spell Talent. Optional on the GM's decision is the Arcane Marks, as really it is part of the magic stuff presented in Realms of Sorcery, but I'm not sure I want to turn green.

EDIT: The below is my BackUp Character.

Ermina "Risky" Boehm (20) is a Thief from the capital city of Nordland. Born of a drunkard mother, she ran with the homeless children by day, giving the takings to her mother at night in return for meagre food and a bed and often a beating. One day it was too much for her pride and she simply left, no longer returning to her mother's house and running instead with the wild children of the City.

She survived and grew, developing a penchant for risky endeavours, earning her her nickname. She is wary of people and situations from long cynicism, preferring methods of taking people's money that doesn't involve people, and loathes surprises, but weighs the equation of risk and reward heavily of the reward side. She has no concept of "the long run" and instead seeks fun, excitement and money. She is diminutive, barely topping five feet and light to boot, with brown hair and odd copper eyes. This helps when she tries to sneakily remove others' belongings, though she is oddly good at wielding a weapon, perhaps because of the situations she often gets herself into.

First character is Thomas Greenmeadow! Halfling tradesman that has come upon some hard times. Mainly due to his clients refusing to rehire him after one to many sketch of a bizzare engineering contraption in the margins of the maps he was meant to be drawing and copying. This combined with his desperate desire to get his hands on some decent engineering tools of the trade and wanting to get into the altdorf engineering school means he'll do near anything for a large sum of money.

Bio: Durnhelm was born in the town of Ferlangen in the north of Ostland to a blacksmith and a millers daughter. Durnhelm was the oldest of two children, his sister Elisa was born nearly 4 years after Durnhelm. By age 10 Durnhelm was already growing into a strong young man and could often be seen working with his father before the forge.

As Durnhelm matured however his father could see his son held none of his passion for metal working and could only watch as a young Durnhelm began to associate with the less reputatble members of Ferlangen society. It wasn't long before Durnhelm started to fall foul of the law, this all culminated with a bar room brawl during with a merchants son was killed.

Durnhelm as a participant in the fight was arrested, tried and convicted and sentance was passed. Durnhelm was sentanced to be hung by the neck until dead before the local temple of Sigmar... divine protection, bribery or just plain luck however had a hand to play. As Durnhelm was hung the rope snapped not before leaving it's mark on his flesh, a ragged scar around his throat and up his neck until it stops behind his ears.

Spared for whatever reason Durnhelm took it as a sign and set out to mend his ways returning to working the forge with his father. It was obvious however that even now in his 20th year that he still held no passion for smithing and it was his father that got Durnhelm a job acting as a guard for a local merchant.

Work as a guard proved fruitful for the young man and he rapidly proved himself a capable bodyguard with a knack for spotting when trouble was around the corner. Most recently however Durnhelm had found himself out of work when a mysterious man from the Celestial College visited him and made him an offer.

Durnhelm accepted the offer given the alternative the Magister had threatened would come to pass Durnhelm hadn't a choice. He would take the job... to protect his student as she 'found her true path'.


(okay thats everything I think if you need anything else Kai I'll edit this again to include it, I also don't need any other books.)

Here's Kadrak, a rather ambitious dwarf who left his home of Karak Hirn to start his own mine in Old World. He's absolutely broke, so he's selling his services as a dwarf to raise funds, prospecting random bits of ground as he goes. He's rather unwelcome in some small towns in the Empire after he uprooted a famous tree in one village because he thought the soil there looked 'Iron rich, you're clearly sitting on a fortune.', dug up several gardens and generally made himself a menace.

He's obsessive, determined and somewhat likely to forget small important details (like ownership of land), but he's honest and doesn't forget a favour.

[Also, I'd like to perhaps use the WFRP Companion at a later date, just because the Deepwatcher career is so dwarfy.]

Hey guys, sorry I'm a bit late posting up my character for the game.

Meet Johann Fueur. Born in Gelzburg to a poor family, he is the Eldest of four children. He joined the boating business on the river from a young age, struggling to move the trade goods from the river barges to the shore and back again, to make enough money to supplement his families meagre earnings, His father being a drunkard gambler and his mother a sick seamstress.
However, the tolls, fees and fines slapped constantly onto the business by overeager and corrupt officials effectively crippled it, and in desperation at losing their only foreseeable income source, Johann and many of his workmates took to smuggling. Smuggling was a surprisingly lucrative affair, and for a time Johann experienced the pleasures of having more than just two pennies to rub together.

Alas, it was not to be. After several years suspicious eyes landed on Gelburz, and the smuggling cartel was betrayed, why nobody could say. Jealously, anger, fear of torture and death, magic perhaps.

In the fighting that followed, as soldiers swept into the hideout of the cartel, many of Johann's comrades died. He escaped as the fighting began, fleeing as his friends scattered into the night. He fled home, but didn't tarry, staying long enough only to gather some essentials before fleeing out of the town on a horse and cart he had kept to help in his smuggling.
Johann isn't a learned man. He has no idea what lies beyond his home over about five miles, save what he's learned over the years from rumour and hearsay and old wives tales. But since to stay in Gelzburg is to die, as surely the soldiers know who he is, he takes to the road, and to an uncertain future. All he knows is, to have money is to be free from the nightmare of an uncertain future. And he so wants to be free.
